They did that, they say, because of Scripture. Paul said woman were to remain silent. What I thought was dumb was the way the WT Society got around that. Two Sisters talking to each other and the congregation overhearing their conversation. No wonder they are so hard to figure out

Women should be silent in the congregation?
by writerpen inokay, since i've been attending a new church, i've had the opportunity to sit on three committees.
i've gone hog wild and volunteered for everything trying to make up for all the years that i couldn't do anything as a female in the kh.
anyway, last night i stirred the shit in one of the meetings by voicing my opinion on how something in the church is run.

I am trying to do a little recompence (spelling?) for my badly stated and recieved posts of my opinions on another post. So here goes- A few years ago I would tell you to "shut your mouth and while your at it" to "cover your head." But I read a book (surprised?) called "The Problem With Paul" and it says that Paul was stateing his opinion on women being silent in that particular part of the world and that women did Elder stuff during the first century Christian era etc. Although the book didn't state this I remember in Scripture Paul stating that it was "his opinion" that it is better to not to marry. So I ask what else in his books are his personel opinions? So I say- go at it... but just wear a nice dress when you do.

Sorry to hear abot your friend. Some people are just special souls. 4 years ago my father passed away over the blood issue. He could not be on blood thinning medication and as a result he got a clot in his heart and died. I went to the Kingdom Hall funeral. There was his portrait and a collage of smaller photos some while in uniform. I made an issue a few days before the talk that I expected to hear something about Dad. And about half of the one hour service was about his life; where he was born and grew up, his interests as a child, His time in the military and how he met Mom. Then came how he got the truth, his being a loyal (and boy was he) elder and serving Jehovah right up to and during his deathbed. (He had all the elders come while he wrote little notes describing where all the finacial records were kept of all the kingdom hall builds etc. And he did all this while having resperator tubes down his throat.) There was no mention to the cause of his heart attack, that may stumble the new ones. Finally the preaching began and it was very clever "This is what (Dad) believed", "This is (Dad's)" hope" etc. etc. After it was over my Mother's best friend came up to me and said "I am sure you will see your Dad in the resurection" I didn't know what to say! In a JW new earth? I mumbeled something "That it is good that Dad is not suffering anymore." Well this hard of hearing sister went to my mother and said she thinks that I doubt that my Father will be resurected. I have tried to straighten this out but it's the opinion of a loyal JW against mine. So Spice try to be prepared for anything.

No sweat Teejay never for one moment thought you were prying or doubting for that matter. And Yes Latin families have the strongest ties I have ever observed. They are wonderful people and don't need any disrespect. About American movies to the rest of the world. Actually there not as well liked as some may think. I seen the movie theaters mostly abandoned. Movies we think are funny like "Something about Mary" and "American Pie" are panned as "crude and cruel American humor." Women I agree are degraded in the movies as prostitutes and Mafia wives etc. I do think us men get it worse. Remember "Fried Green Tomatoes" the funny there was they were feeding the murdered body of the male abuser to the police detective looking for the body. All fair I guess. The worst in my opinion was "The Joy Luck Club" one abusive man after another and just about the time you think there is one good man in the movie he turns out to be the worst of them all. Hollywood propaganda. It makes me wince. Bet you learned allot during these last 2 posts. Rile them up and their true colors come out. Scratch a liberal sexest and there is a racest ready to come out. Amazing

Got to agree with you. Lots of 'Love and Acceptence' here. It just helps to first know which way the wind is blowing.

I think I get it. What you are saying is that this site is taken over by the fluffers and the researchers like you and Jan, 607 not!, H are getting little attention. It is true your posts are brilliant (spelling?) but they only get 300-400 hits. I have printed off a number of your posts and my friend Carol always asks for them...PS The places on the bus are filling fast so if you want to blow town...

Answer to Beautiful Garbage: Extended families work and grow their own food outside their cities. Everything costs less $2 for the phone as an example. And like here they have 2 income families so perhaps it's $200 per family per month. Their clothing puts ours to shame. I was surprised at that. They have less than ours but what they have is both stylish and well made and with highest quality materials....To Teejay: I would love to tell you where but as you know small minds resort to stereotype insults when their arguments are weak. I just don't like seeing these good people trashed by the ignorant...To Six of Nine: Your sexism is now topped by your racism, FUCK OFF Bitch!

Thank you Xena for your compliment. I started to write you a long post about my business travels and the attitudes of my foreign partners, both men and women, in other lands towards each other. I just hit the delete button on a few hundred words. When 4skins posted his foreign travel post it hit a nerve. You see the thing is is that I have so much more experience in this subject than he. But I am growing tired of offending everyone. But I should first answer your question. I believe 4skins is as uncomfortable around women with attitudes hostile towards men as I am. We believe that these attitudes reflect out in many ways; the mannerism, the walk, clothing and hair styles etc. You see when I lived in another country for so long and came back here and looked around I was mildly shocked. Over there people are lucky to make $100 month even after 4 years at the university and yet they dress to the nines all the time. They keep trim and not from lack of food but from a desire to look.. shall I say it? sexy and beautiful for their "beloved man" or woman. They know about the hostility of the sexes towards each other here. It comes out in our movies. You see I just have a different perspective on this issue, that's all. Dave
